Marco Dapino : Ore di città

MARCO DAPINO:
ORE DI CITTÀ
Photographic Exhibition
2nd October – 6th November 2015

RB Contemporary is proud to present, from 2nd October to 6th November at Foro Buonaparte 46 in Milan, ‘City Hours’, the new exhibition by photographer MARCO DAPINO, directed by Angela Madesani.

The title is taken from the poetry collection with the same title by Delio Tessa, written between 1936 and 1939.

The main character of the collection of images, taken between 2012 and 2014, is Milan, a city to discover and get to know, which the artist has metabolised and explained, after having created a deep feeling for this place.

Milan at dusk, when natural light mixes with artificial lighting, the time which most befits the city: “For me, photography is light and colour, and my main intention is to immortalise the city in this particular atmosphere, never live, choosing shots and views less conventional than usual”, says Dapino.

The Arch of Porta Garibaldi in Piazza 25 Aprile, Via Lupetta, the Polish Church behind Via Meraviglia, some buildings by Giò Ponti, the Pirelli Skyscraper, the Church of Saint Francesco of Fopponino, the Branca Tower, designed with Cesare Chiodi; and moreover, Central Station, the symbolic and magnetic building, of which the artist wishes to portray “its most mysterious side; magic and occult”.

Varied places, layered, in which the new combines with the old; Dapino’s Milan is never monochrome, and it depicts the night through a mix of colours. Each photo is thought up individually, and then some of them find their own way next to each other. It is about constructive themes; concave and convex surfaces, fullness and emptiness, details which appear to communicate with each other perfectly.

Dapino’s images are not a documentary; they portray atmospheres, points of view, with a sort of metaphysical gaze.

The choice of the location I very important; it is free of traffic and other disturbances, and thus reveals a monumental city.

THE INAUGURATION WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY 1ST OCTOBER 2015, FROM 6PM TO 9PM.
